First, we like how many options there are. There is a Nature’s Recipe grain-free line as well as original and high protein dog food for highly active dogs.
Next, every ingredient in Nature’s Recipe grain free and original recipe pet food is high quality. They get a lot of their protein content from meat meals which have significantly more protein content than fresh meat. The animal fats used are a great source of omega fatty acids, but we wish the brand was more specific about where the fat came from.
Based on the quality of the ingredients, Nature’s Recipe is a better than average pet food. It’s definitely higher quality than most of the pet food brands that you’d find on the shelf of your local big box store. Nature’s Recipe grain-free pet food edges out the original recipes just a bit, but overall, we think this is a good option for just about any dog.
